7-Weeks-Wednesdays

Method Writing is a unique approach to the creative process, where we focus on, voice, writing like you talk, and tonal dynamics. Through these ground breaking techniques created by Jack Grapes, students will begin to connect back to who they really are, and see that the exercises create the text (not the other way around).

In Method Writing we don’t use prompts or brainstorming sessions to come up with something to write about. Instead, we do journal-entry style writing and allow the story to find us through the exercise.

The fact is that you can’t escape the story you want to tell, it will find you no matter where you are.  Method Writing will also unlock any creative blocks you are feeling. You just have to do the exercise.

My classes run like a Little Red Schoolhouse-students at different levels learning side by side.

In the Wednesday evening class, you'll find students working in the Prequel, First Level, and Advanced Level Method Writing. This format allows new students to see what lies ahead in Method Writing, while advanced students get a valuable brush-up on concepts they may might have forgotten. It's one of the things that makes these classes so dynamic, fun, and unique.

Students will also be encouraged send their work out for publication. Like Bukowski said, “send your shit out.”

If you are taking the 7-Week First Level Method Writing, you will be needing the textbook called, Method Writing; The First Four Concepts by Jack Grapes’ .

If you have gone through level one and taking the 7-Week Advanced Level Method Writing, you will need the textbook called, Advanced Method Writing, The Art of Tonal Dynamics by Jack Grapes’

Both books are available on Amazon.
