The Evening Class
Dec

to Jan 30

The Evening Class

In your first two months you’ll dive into First-Level Method Writing, working through the first four concepts in Jack Grapes’ Method Writing book. This groundbreaking approach gets you in touch with your true inner being. You’ll write authentically—sounding like you, not a “fancy writer.” That’s what all good writers and artists strive for: VOICE—writing like you talk. Once that voice is on the page, we show you how to take it even deeper. Voice hooks the reader; voice shapes character; character sparks story and plot. When the reader is hooked, we teach you to create cinematic prose by mastering the mechanics of the Image Moment. And if that isn’t enough, we’ll rattle your brain with the “dreaded” Association Exercise—where the accidents of genius pop up. You’ll see how Jack Grapes’ Method Writing really works and why it makes you stand out as a writer, an artist, and a human being. You’ll write from process, not toward product, trusting that process actually creates product. When you’re in the moment on the page, you’re open to the unexpected ideas hidden in your deepest self. “No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.” — Robert Frost
